Madre and Padre?Miguel always felt awkward when near a church. He wasn't one to shun faith or push it away entirely, as Tulio always seemed bent on doing - he was completely open to the concept, despite the trials that life had thrown at him. No, the reason he felt awkward was simply because he felt he felt he was tarnishing the place. People like him and Tulio weren't generally welcomed at such establishments, so they steered clear if they could help it, just to avoid any trouble. But steering clear could be damn hard when it was the coldest, wettest winter night you'd seen for some time, and you had an armful of heavy groceries. A situation like that can make the usually cold and intimidating exterior of a church look warm and inviting. But having said that, it did look more warm and inviting than usual it was Christmas Eve, after all.

With the push of the wine of the evening, he felt as free as he was when they escaped El Dorado with a loud departure.
It had been a year and a half and Chel just wasn't just cutting it anymore. With the new world open to her, she tended to bask in another presence. Tulio was upset. He had found her in the back of a an alley with another Spanish man over her. He shouldn't have been surprised but he was. He was angry with himself for inviting her at all and thinking they would stay together. What a stupid thought. What was worse It was Valentines Day.
